Department of Gynecology and Maternity
Within the department, women are hospitalized for various surgeries. The surgeries are performed for a wide range of indications and include: laparoscopic procedures, abdominal open surgeries (laparotomies), and procedures performed via perineal (vaginal) access.
The department primarily serves young female patients with a healthy background who have been admitted due to recent health issues. Most of the issues are diagnosed quickly and receive treatment that offers an almost complete solution. As a result, hospital stays are relatively short, and patients are discharged with a resolution to their problems.
As a nursing and medical team, we are committed to continuously enhancing our professionalism and knowledge, and our staff actively participates in professional courses, conferences, and seminars. We take pride in lending a caring ear, offering a warm smile, and building personal and empathetic connections with patients. Our goal is to foster excellence within the department and deliver high-quality care in accordance with the organization's procedures.
The department's nursing staff is made up of a highly skilled team of dedicated nurses, dedicated to providing exceptional care to hospitalized women.
The department offers comprehensive instruction, both oral and written, covering a wide range of topics:
- Pre-operative guidance: laparoscopic and abdominal-vaginal approaches.
- Guidance for women with ovarian hyperstimulation.
- Guidance for women undergoing termination of pregnancy (we're sensitive to the emotional and physical aspects, offering support and accompanying you with a social worker).
- Guidance for pregnant women at risk up to week 24.
- Guidance for women hospitalized after childbirth, focusing on breastfeeding and pumping milk. (The ward has two electric breast pumps available for borrowing).
- Guidance for women with ectopic pregnancy.
- Guidance for a patient undergoing conization (a procedure which involves the removal of a cone-shaped portion of the cervix).
- An information sheet and guidance for a patient admitted for a vulvar biopsy procedure.
The nursing staff identifies and locates various problems and reports them to the medical staff. To ensure the highest level of care, the treating team is supported, as needed, by additional doctors from the Yosef Buchman Center for Gynecology and Maternity, such as: genetic counselors, ultrasound specialists, doctors from the paediatrics department, endocrinologists, a dietitian, and specialists from other medical disciplines (such as the imaging department, internal medicine doctors, cardiologists, surgeons, gastroenterology specialists, hematology, orthopedics, wound clinic, pain clinic, etc.).
Our team is highly attentive and aware of the needs of women hospitalized in the department. The professional treatment and support we provide focuses on helping patients get back to their daily routine as quickly as possible.
