Hana Golan, M.D Ph.D
Dr. Hana Golan is a pediatric hemato- oncologist at the Safra Children's Hospital at Sheba medical center. She completed her medical degree at the Technion, and specialized in pediatrics and pediatric hemato-oncology at the Safra Children's Hospital. Dr. Golan has a special interest in treating children with Neuroblastoma and serves as the PI of the international HR ESIOP protocol in the department.
In the last several years Dr. Golan's main research focus is on isolation and characterization of cancer stem cells from various pediatric solid tumors as well as research aimed at development of new treatments designed to target and destroy cancer stem cells.
Dr. Golan, in collaboration with the "Pediatric Stem Cell Research Institute", has recently made progress towards identification of Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor (MRT) stem cells by serial passages of MRT xenografts in immunodeficient mice which resulted in in-vivo selection of the stem cell compartment. Using the mouse model, they aer leading now, an extensive cancer stem cell research program in order to study the biology of cancer stem cells and to identify therapeutic targets in various pediatric solid tumors.
