Day hospitalization for head injuries provides professional and comprehensive rehabilitation to individuals who have experienced a severe head injury and have returned to live in the community.
Treatment that takes place while the patient is back in their natural environment enables the identification of personalized treatment goals that are relevant to the patient's life. It also helps determine ongoing treatment needs and provides support and assistance in the process of meaningful integration into the community.
Our multidisciplinary team, expert in rehabilitating head injuries within the inpatient department, comprises physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, psychologists, and nutritionists.
Treatment goals
- Achieving maximum quality of life and independence in all areas of life.
- Promoting responsiveness and cooperation, tailored to the patient's capabilities, while acknowledging their emotional experience (pleasure). Additionally, fostering a positive, optimistic outlook and emotional resilience.
- Development of new cognitive and behavioral strategies that will compensate for any deficiencies.
- Creating awareness of disabilities, and assisting in the emotional acceptance of the new situation.
- Enhancing function and mobility to facilitate proficiency in daily activities.
- Managing psychological and social challenges.
- Modifying drug therapy.
- Developing a treatment plan involves considering the individual's personality, talents, and interests prior to the injury.
- Training and orientation of family and caregivers.
Who is the treatment for?
Individuals in a state of minimal consciousness: the treatment is designed for individuals in a state of minimal consciousness who have not undergone prior rehabilitation or who have been discharged from a rehabilitation department but still require comprehensive multi-professional rehabilitation treatment. The treatment goals are individually tailored to each patient, but in many cases include: achieving basic communication skills, improving swallowing, treating tone, improving motor control, preserving and improving range of motion, organizing braces treatment, medication balance, and equipment adjustment.
Veteran head injuries whose condition has worsened: the treatment is designed for individuals with severe, chronic brain injuries who have experienced a decline in functioning. Its objectives include identifying the cause of functional withdrawal and implementing a multidisciplinary rehabilitation approach to enhance functional level and improve quality of life based on the individual's newfound abilities.
Sub-acute rehabilitation treatment for severe head injuries: the treatment is designed for individuals who have undergone a severe head injury and have completed the initial rehabilitation but still demonstrate gradual improvement in their abilities. The treatment goals are individually determined based on the capabilities and requirements of each patient.
