At the High-risk Pregnancy department, we welcome women who require continuous supervision due to pregnancy complications or those who are admitted for investigations, diagnosis, and assessment of their condition. We welcome women starting from the 24th week of pregnancy. For women with a gestational age less than 24 weeks, our gynecology department is here to provide their care.

The High-risk Pregnancy department is here to offer a safe and high-quality service to mothers and their precious fetuses. Our team of skilled and experienced professionals is dedicated to upholding the dignity of our patients and meeting their unique needs in personal, cultural, and emotional aspects. Think of us as your "one-stop shop" for all known pregnancy complications, both maternal and fetal.

The High-risk Pregnancy department at Sheba is widely recognized as a national center of excellence and a leader in Israel for performing caesarean sections in cases of placenta previa. In these situations, early preparation involves catheterization of the uterine arteries to minimize bleeding complications that may arise during the procedure.

The department sees it as our moral responsibility to educate the next generation of midwives, nurses, interns, and young specialists, equipping them with practical tools and the latest knowledge in the field. Our medical staff has amassed extensive experience in managing pregnancy complications, and they are supported, when needed, by experts from diverse fields like genetic counselors, ultrasound specialists, endocrinologists, surgeons, and more.

The skilled nursing team of midwives and nurses provides training and guidance on various topics:

Preparing for birth - this covers the physiology of birth, birthing positions, pain relief options, and explanations of different types of assisted births and when they are performed.

Induction of labor - types of induction, reasons for induction, and monitoring of the mother and fetus during induction.

Preparation for caesarean section.

Premature birth, including a tour of the Neonatology Department.

Breastfeeding.

A weekly group meeting for information sharing, emotional expression, and relaxation, accompanied by music.
