The Hypertension Unit at Sheba Medical Center is at the forefront of the field nationwide, boasting a highly skilled clinical team, state-of-the-art laboratory, and comprehensive services. Our dedicated physicians play an important role in advancing hypertension treatment and research through their ongoing academic and scientific activities.

The unit operates two clinics: one for high blood pressure where we diagnose and treat hypertension, and another for autonomic disorders where we evaluate the autonomic system for patients with conditions like orthostatic hypotension, intolerance to standing, recurrent fainting spells, and other diseases involving autonomic dysfunction.

In addition, our unit serves as a central hub for diagnosing pheochromocytoma. We employ dynamic tests, like the clonidine suppression test, to ensure precise and accurate diagnosis of this condition.

Blood pressure laboratories
• Lab analysis of catecholamines in blood and urine
• Analysis of renin and aldosterone
• 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
• Neurocardiological service for dynamic assessment of autonomic dysfunction states

Research

Sheba’s Hypertension Unit carries out research and studies on various topics, such as the link between obesity, hypertension, and neuroendocrine systems. Among other studies, we are also engaged in research to explore the relationship between melatonin and reducing blood pressure at night.

Recognized by the Faculty of Medicine of Tel Aviv University, our unit also takes an active role in teaching interns in the basic sciences, paid PhD students, and sub-interns in the field of hypertension.
