The luxurious maternity facility at Sheba offers a triage room, examination rooms, an extra delivery room, stimulation rooms, and postpartum recovery rooms. The facility was designed and built to the highest standards, providing expectant mothers with top-quality and safe services, while ensuring maximum privacy and comfort.
As soon as you arrive at the waiting area, you'll be greeted with a warm welcome to our luxurious lounge, designed just like a cozy living room. Kick back on our comfortable sofas, relax your muscles with physio balls, catch up on your favorite shows on our televisions, grab a snack in our kitchenette, and recharge your devices with our convenient phone charging sockets. Our service representatives will be there to greet you and assist you with any information and explanations you may need. And while you wait, feel free to enjoy our complementary therapeutic treatments.
Ready? We are too! Our maternity ward boasts well-organized examination rooms, complete with state-of-the-art monitors. They offer plenty of space for your partner and have convenient adjacent facilities.
Rest assured, you can feel safe in our care. Our central monitoring system, accessible from anywhere in the department, promptly alerts our staff at the first signs of fetal distress. Additionally, we provide ultrasound services, and if needed, our doctors will utilize a portable ultrasound device right beside the examination bed.
Need to give birth right away? Our emergency department is well-equipped with a state-of-the-art delivery room, ensuring a safe arrival for mothers who may face unexpected challenges before reaching the delivery room.
Need a little boost? Spacious and comfortable rooms are at your disposal, specially designed for you and your partner's stay, for labor induction and urgent treatments. These rooms also provide the option for giving birth if needed.
When do people go to the maternity triage?
Maternity triage at Sheba treats women starting from week 23 of their pregnancy and beyond. You can either come independently or with a referral from a doctor in the community. Women come to to the maternity triage ward for a variety of reasons, not necessarily because there are signs of the beginning of labor: concerns regarding the fetus itself that require further investigation and follow-up, or concerns regarding the mother, such as shortness of breath, pain, suspicion of kidney inflammation, unexplained abdominal pain, and more.
We give each concern our complete attention and strive to enhance your experience in the triage room. If you're unsure whether to visit us or stay home, feel free to give us a call for advice. Our experienced staff will ask questions such as whether it's your first birth, if there's any bleeding, or if labor has started. Based on your answers, we'll provide guidance on whether to come in or wait at home for a bit longer.
You’ve arrived at the triage room. What happens now?
If you're experiencing frequent and painful contractions, it's important to head straight to the emergency room. If your referral is for a different reason, please visit the secretariat where they will assess whether immediate treatment is necessary or guide you to the midwifery desk for patient classification (triage).
Next, we'll ask you about how your pregnancy has been going, including any movements you've felt and why you came to the triage room. We'll also take some measurements and connect you to a monitor. You'll be glad to know that there's an ultrasound technician available from the morning until 3:00 p.m.
Just a quick heads up: if you come to the triage room after your water has started to break, we won't be able to send you home right away. After an examination, we'll either direct you to the delivery room or to the hospital.
The next step in the triage room is to meet with the doctor for an examination. Here too, you'll be asked about how your pregnancy has been going so far. The doctor will review your pregnancy monitoring card, examine you, and discuss any additional tests, referral to the delivery room, hospitalization, or discharge to home.
We want you to know that we are aware of the sensitive situation you are in when you come to us, and therefore we will do everything possible to provide you with a prompt response and ease your medical condition, even when the referral itself is not urgent. In such a case, it is possible that the waiting time may be longer.
During the evening hours when the triage room gets busy, feel free to reach out to our service leader. They'll gladly check on your tests, ensure a doctor or nurse attends to your needs upon request, and address any non-medical concerns you may have.
