Research Focus
My research focuses on disentangling the complexities of the impact of cardiovascular risk factors, particularly type 2 diabetes, and related characteristics on cognitive compromise.
I have extensive experience with leading large-scale longitudinal studies in the field of dementia. I am especially interested in the effect of diabetes medications on brain insulin signaling and Alzheimer's neuropathology. In addition, the population segment of the oldest old is of very high interest to me since they are at highest risk of developing dementia but are the least studied in this context.
