The physiotherapy service at the Multiple Sclerosis Center is provided by a team of certified and skilled physiotherapists who specialise in neurological rehabilitation. Whether you have mild motor impairments, require a mobility aid, or are confined to a wheelchair, we are here to help.
Our Center offers two frameworks for physiotherapy:
- Outpatient treatments - we tailor the frequency of treatments to your needs, typically once or twice a week.
- Inpatient intensive rehabilitation - a three-week program
Treatments include a physical assessment, counseling for the patient and their family or primary caregiver, and tools for coping with the disease and its consequences. Treatment goals are decided jointly with the patient and their family, depending on the results of the physical assessment. When needed, walking aids such as canes, crutches, walkers, and orthotics are custom-fitted, alongside guidance on selecting the right wheelchair and suggestions for modifying both work and living spaces. Our goal is to enable optimal functional performance within the community.
During treatment, we use a range of equipment including treadmills, treadmills with body weight support harnesses, passive standing frames, compression sleeves, Therapi Master, among others.
Our patients are also referred to the Rehabilitation Center for a computerized gait analysis and an oxygen consumption test during exertion, to the gym, and for hydrotherapy treatments in the rehabilitation pool.
