Early detection of atherosclerosis:

With the help of advanced CT technology, we can now perform a noninvasive diagnosis of coronary heart disease. The diagnosis is made through a simple scan, which allows us to diagnose the first stages of the sclerotic disease which can cause heart attacks.

During these stages, the disease manifests within the blood vessel walls without presenting noticeable symptoms. Even stress tests may not detect it. In the service provided within the Institute for Cardiac Rehabilitation, it is possible to determine the need to perform the test, and according to its results determine if and what treatment is required.

Diagnosing blockages in the coronary arteries:

In cases of suspected obstructive coronary disease (chest pain, stress tests and inconclusive mapping), a non-invasive diagnosis of problems in the blood vessels feeding the heart muscle can be performed. This is achieved using the computerized spiral scanner (40 slices) and injecting contrast material into vein in the arm.

The indications for this test are currently being studied.

As part of the service at our institute, we thoroughly assess the patient's suitability for the examination, analyze its results, and provide recommendations for further investigation and appropriate follow-up.
