The goal of the treatment is to empower empower individuals by providing them with the necessary tools and creating an environment that facilitates their maximum level of independent functioning within existing limits, while referring to their desired occupations and positions.
Over the years, the department’s occupational therapy unit has developed a unique specialization in the fields of sensorimotor and cognitive-behavioral therapy. We specialize in diagnosis, treatment, adjustment of accessories (to improve independent functioning), housing, and the environment. We employ various treatment methods and the most advanced technologies in the field.
Our work within the unit is built upon the client-centered model, where the patient takes the lead in shaping the rehabilitation plan. Together, we determine goals based on their unique needs and aspirations. The treatment is personalized and touches upon all areas of life.
The staff:
The unit is staffed by certified occupational therapists, each with their own unique specialties in the field of physical and cognitive rehabilitation.
The course of treatment focuses on the following areas:
Assessment (sensorimotor, behavioral-cognitive and functional) using standard tools and observations.
Rehabilitation of upper limbs: maintaining and increasing ranges of motion by activating and adjusting splints. Various activities to strengthen existing muscles and improve manual dexterity and coordination, using active treatment methods and advanced technologies such as virtual reality, electro-stimulation and biofeedback.
Behavioral-cognitive rehabilitation: Practicing thinking skills, including perception, visual-motor organization, and memory. As well as, higher thinking processes such as organization, initiative, planning and control and providing compensatory tools.
Daily functional practice and adjustment of auxiliary accessories: performed in the occupational therapy hall, patient's room, and in the therapeutic apartment which simulates a home environment.
Environmental adaptation: Consultation and guidance for the changes required to enable independent and safe functioning, including visiting the patient's home and workplace.

- Driving - a simulation center for diagnosing and restoring driving skills.
- Visual rehabilitation clinic
- Art workshop
- Therapeutic gardening
The unit maintains constant communication with external entities including Milbat, Ezer Mizion, Yad Sarah and units for ongoing care in the various health funds.
