The Basic Research Laboratory in pediatric hemato-oncology, integrates seamlessly into the wider system for hemato-oncology and bone marrow transplants for children. We are staffed by doctors and researchers in the field of hemato-oncology and pediatrics, all of whom have received basic science training at prestigious universities and institutions in Israel and around the world. They are ably supported by a group of researchers and master's students.
The laboratory focuses on five key research areas:
1. Investigating the mechanisms behind brain tumours in children and developing new therapies.
2. Evaluating the efficacy of treatments using cannabinoids and similar substances on neuroblastoma cells, glioblastoma, and other tumours in children.
3. Isolating and characterising cancer stem cells and evaluating novel treatments targeting them.
4. Immunotherapy: Enhancing the efficacy of immune system cells in combating cancerous tumours.
5. Investigating why brain tumors resist standard drugs and developing new drugs to counter this resistance.
