The Pediatric Orthopedics Unit’s staff is dedicated to providing care for children with a range of acute orthopedic injuries, like fractures and sprains, as well as chronic health conditions. We also specialize in treating children with deformities and birth defects, such as congenital sprain of the hip joint, clubfoot, and more. With our extensive experience in correcting limb deformities and lengthening limbs using various methods, we strive to constantly advance the field, employing modern techniques like TSF.
Our unit is actively involved in the following areas of activity:
Fracture Clinic: Treating and following up with children who have limb bruises and fractures. Also, providing follow-up and completing investigations for children with lameness and reluctance to step on the examined leg from the emergency room.
Neuro-orthopedic clinic - specializes in treating children with various disabilities resulting from neurological or muscular diseases. These include treating children with cerebral palsy, children with mobility limitations and limb disorders due to CP. Our team of experts includes orthopedic specialists, neurology specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and pediatric rehabilitation specialists. Treatment options include botulinum injections to reduce muscle spasticity, recommendations for appropriate splints, orthopedic aids, and surgical interventions.
Orthopedic clinic - provides consultations for children with Rett syndrome. Additionally, the clinic offers guidance for children with Myelomeningocele, a congenital spine disorder that can greatly affect mobility and cause limb deformities.
DDH Clinic - Follow-up and treatment for baby girls and children with congenital hip joint dislocation.
Clubfoot clinic - provides treatment of infants born with congenital deformity of the feet. Our approach involves weekly cast changes during infancy, following the renowned Ponseti method. We also provide prenatal counseling for pregnancies with suspected congenital limb deformities.
Foot clinic - provides treatment of babies and teenagers suffering from a variety of problems, congenital deformities, acquired deformities such as club toe Hallux Valgus, foot injuries and treatment of ingrown toenails.
Spine Clinic - provides comprehensive care and follow-up for children and adolescents with spinal deformities, including scoliosis. Our services also include diagnosis and treatment of back pain in pediatric patients.
Limb sprains and extension clinic - offers assessment and treatment of lower limb deformities, including limb length discrepancies and short stature. Surgical interventions are employed to correct these deformities and facilitate limb lengthening, using techniques that involve internal fixations or external extension systems such as the Taylor and Ilizarov device.
The unit is renowned for its specialization in pediatric orthopedics. The doctors of the unit actively deliver lectures to students in various settings, as well as at conferences and the School of Continuing Education at Tel Aviv University.
