The Urology unit focuses on addressing urinary system issues in children, collaborating closely with top experts in various fields of pediatric medicine.
The unit's scope of work includes providing medical care to hospitalized children, performing surgeries, and offering treatment and follow-up services at the clinic.
Surgical procedures
- Surgical procedures to repair congenital blockage in the renal pelvis outlet or the area where the ureter connects to the bladder.
- Posterior urethral valve resection.
- Urethrocele incision.
- Repair of vesicoureteral reflux by Deflux injection, or surgery to reimplant the ureter.
- Breaking stones in the urinary tract.
- Correction of undescended testicles.
- Hydrocele surgery.
- Varicocele surgery.
- Hypospadias repair surgery.
- Penile curvature correction.
- Circumcision in medical indications and circumcision repairs.
- Urethral dilation.
- Reconstructive surgeries of the urinary system in cases of neurogenic bladder (bladder enlargement, bladder neck reconstruction, creation of a path for catheterization of the bladder according to Mitrofanoff).
- Urinary tract tumor resection surgeries in children (kidneys, bladder, testicles).
Treatment in a clinical setting
- Consultation regarding the findings of prenatal ultrasound examinations concerning the urinary system.
- Investigation and treatment of congenital malformations of the urinary and sexual systems.
- Treatment in other hospital departments.
- Consultation for different inpatient departments at the children's hospital.
- Consultation within the prenatal ultrasound unit for fetuses diagnosed with defects in the urogenital system.
- Consultation for the departments of maternity and premature infants concerning newborns prenatally diagnosed with urinary system defects such as hypospadias and hydronephrosis.
- Consultation for physicians in the pediatric hemato-oncology department regarding patients with malignant diseases affecting the urinary system.
- Consultation for doctors in the pediatric rehabilitation department concerning the treatment of pediatric neurogenic bladder.
- Providing a response to pediatricians and the urology department regarding urgent urological inquiries for child triage - day and night.
- Regular visits to the pediatric surgery department to monitor hospitalized children after urological surgeries or after an urgent visit to the emergency room.
- Performing urodynamic tests and clarifying problems related to bladder function.
- Investigating and treating incontinence problems, including nocturnal enuresis.
