In the Child Psychiatry department, we care for children aged 6 to 12 who are navigating a range of behavioural, emotional, and psychiatric challenges. They are provided with intensive treatment and close supervision by our dedicated medical team. This includes support for behaviour regulation, self-harm, social challenges, school issues, psychotic states, depression, and any medical conditions impacting behaviour. The length of their hospital stay can vary, ranging from a few weeks to up to three months.

The department's multi-professional team includes psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, a communication therapist, a behavior analyst, a dietitian, student-instructors, and teachers from the department's school.

Our goal is to provide children with high-quality and innovative care, that encompasses behavioral, social, emotional and medicinal interventions. This approach is done in collaboration with the child, their parents, and community-based professionals. Its purpose is to treat the child's problems and improve his functioning. We advocate for treating children with scientifically proven innovative treatments.

This is why we conduct extensive research into the underlying causes of a child's challenges and behaviours, including genetic and medical factors, as well as evaluating medications and other treatment strategies aimed at enhancing their condition. During hospitalisation, the department's doctors will reach out to parents to discuss the studies and, importantly, seek your consent for your child's participation.

We're committed to the belief that quality care in crisis situations can really help someone integrate back into the community. Our approach is all about respect, caring, transparency, and learning, always acknowledging the strengths of the child and their family.
