Upon being discharged from the ward following heart surgery, you'll be invited to visit a nurse who will remove your stitches and assess the surgical wound. If needed, and as determined by the nurse, they may refer you to a doctor for further examination.
Stitches are typically removed around two weeks after the operation. While it doesn't cause pain, you might feel a bit uncomfortable. Therefore, it's recommended to take a pain reliever before coming to the clinic.
Necessary preparations for removing stitches:
- An invitation to visit a nurse for the purpose of removing stitches.
- Financial commitment form from the health fund (Form 17).
- Make sure to eat breakfast and take your regular medications before arrival at the clinic.
- Pain reliever - recommended.
Kindly arrive on time to avoid a long wait.
