The clinic is part of the Institute for Lung Diseases in Sheba and treats patients who suffer from pulmonary hypertension - a disease that causes narrowing of the pulmonary arteries that carry blood to the lungs. The team diagnoses the cause of the disease and provides customized treatment. As part of the investigation, patients undergo a chest CT, an echocardiogram, and a right heart catheterization (to the pulmonary arteries). Many patients are treated with drugs (given by injections or by inhalation) during day hospitalization in a clinic. When the disease is caused by chronic pulmonary embolism (CTEPH - Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension) it is possible to undergo advanced treatments, for example interventional catheterization or surgery to the pulmonary arteries. The clinic works in full cooperation with the Heart, Chest and Vascular Center.
