The discovery of a suspicious finding for cancer can be a daunting experience, accompanied by feelings of anxiety, confusion, and helplessness. Many patients describe this moment as an "earthquake" or a "fall from a cliff." It is precisely at this moment, that we must gather our strength to navigate the bureaucratic system, and plethora of experts, tests, and imaging machines.
At the Rapid Diagnostic Center, our team of leading professionals from Sheba Medical Center is dedicated to providing you with the most efficient and accurate diagnosis as quickly as possible. Throughout the diagnostic period, we will be by your side, listening to you, keeping you in the loop, and supporting you with regards to all your physical and emotional needs.
Our team includes senior oncologists, surgeons, orthopedists, pulmonologists, pain physicians, imaging specialists, pathologists, an oncology nurse, and a social worker. We work collaboratively with your community physician to ensure comprehensive care.
What can you expect?
On the first visit, you will meet one of the medical teams and the coordinating nurse, who will personally accompany you throughout the entire diagnostic process. The coordinating nurse serves as a liaison to the physicians and as an address for any question or concern. Full contact details will be provided to you during the first visit.
It is possible that during the diagnostic process, you may meet different people from the medical team - however, each one of them is updated on your diagnostic stages. The center's team meets for regular meetings four times a week, so all team members are familiar with the medical records of all patients.
At the end of the diagnosis, a treatment plan is determined, and the coordinating nurse assists in scheduling appointments in the various departments of Sheba and ensures the orderly transfer of medical information. Those interested can also receive information about clinical trials.
Who is the service for?
The service is intended for individuals over the age of 18. If you have recently undergone an imaging test, such as a CT or MRI, and a suspicious finding has been detected, we encourage you to reach out to us. You can come with a referral from a family doctor, a specialist or without any referral.
To book a fast diagnosis appointment, simply fill out the form on our website. If you have a doctor's referral, send it via email or fax as a PDF or Word file. Make sure to include your latest lab test results, interpretation of imaging tests, and a summary from your family doctor about your medical history and medications. Feel free to ask your family doctor to fill out the referral form with your health condition details.
You'll receive a response within two working days. If your inquiry is accepted, you'll get an appointment within two working days from the response date. From the moment you send the inquiry until the first meeting, it won't take more than four working days.
Please note that not all callers are suitable for diagnosis at our center. If we reject your inquiry, we'll send a letter explaining the reason and providing basic recommendations for further diagnosis and treatment.
Is this a paid service?
Before your first visit, please bring a commitment form (Form 17) from your health fund. If you don't have Form 17, payment must be made on the day of your appointment based on the Ministry of Health's price list (144 NIS as of January 2017). For subsequent appointments, you will need an additional Form 17 for each examination.
