The Pain Relief Institute provides a comprehensive solution for patients managing persistent or occasional acute pain. Our services encompass a dedicated clinic, as well as professional counseling and treatment for inpatients across various hospital departments.

The treatment is provided by a highly skilled and caring team of medical professionals, including pain specialists, neurologists, neurosurgical anesthesiologists, and oncologists. Our aim is to assist patients in getting back to the circle of life and regaining full function to the best of our ability.
Our treatment management adheres to the principles and guidelines set by the World Health Organization, while being aligned with the institution's and Ministry of Health's policies.  Nursing practice plays a crucial role in pain relief treatment. Nursing consultation facilitates a seamless continuum of care, effective coordination among all stakeholders, and fosters awareness of emerging tools and techniques.

Our staff believes raising awareness about pain treatment is incredibly important. As such, we deliver engaging lectures on the subject to medical staff both within and outside the hospital, as well as to the general public. In addition, our team actively participates in national professional frameworks such as the Israeli Pain Association, the Nursing Forum for Pain Management, and the Pain Department of the Association of Anesthesiologists.

Pain clinic

The service is intended for those suffering from persistent pain for various reasons, for example:

  • Spine problems
  • Herniated Disc
  • Nervous system damage, e.g., neuropathy, kidney disease, or post-herpes zoster infection
  • Conditions requiring complex and long-term treatment, e.g., fibromyalgia or headaches
  • Malignancies

Treatment options at the clinic

The initial meeting includes a comprehensive interview, physical examination and imaging tests, all aimed at pinpointing the source of your pain and determining the necessary treatment. Following that, treatments will be administered based on the diagnosis, with guidance and explanations provided along the way:

  • Non-invasive treatment - electricity, radio waves.
  • Invasive treatment - injections to peripheral nerves, trigger points, epidural space or continuous administration, cryoanalgesia (nerve freezing), and drug infusion using lidocaine, magnesium, or amantadine.  Invasive treatment under imaging - injections into the spine, nerve roots and patellar joints; injections into nerve centers at the base of the skull and in the abdominal cavity; Destruction of nerves that are a source of pain.
  • Implanting devices for drug delivery - implantable pumps, epidural catheters, or electrodes.
  • Psychological service - individual psychological treatment and support groups, led by the psychologist Yaara Atias and the clinic nurse. All patients are entitled to the service, which is designed to help them deal with the pain and its consequences on the various areas of life.

Pain counseling for hospitalized patients

The service is designed for hospitalized patients experiencing acute pain after surgery and/or trauma, as well as for hospitalized patients dealing with chronic pain.

The management of patients with acute pain begins immediately after the operation, and involves the administration of medication either intravenously or via regional anesthesia. Our dedicated team visits patients under their care at least twice a day, ensuring the effectiveness of treatment, monitoring for any side effects, and adjusting dosage or discontinuing treatment as needed. We work closely with the ward staff to provide coordinated care for all patients.
The successful management of chronic pain relies on proactive prevention - continuous monitoring of patients and treatment outcomes, even during evenings and nights after discharge from the hospital in order to  prevent pain resurgence following treatment.
