Our clinic staff strives to promote regular physical activity, including among individuals dealing with chronic diseases. Taking part in such activities enhances the ability to handle various ailments, benefiting both the mind and body. It lifts the mood, boosts self-image, and can even reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases.
One of our clinic's goals is to incorporate this amazing “wonder drug” - customized physical activity that suits each patient's needs - into the medical treatment process. However, it's important to note that there is a certain risk of exacerbating the condition or injury if physical activity is not performed correctly. Therefore, patients with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, as well as pregnant women and the elderly, require a tailored prescription of physical activity. Thus, the sports medicine service offers tailored advice on different health conditions, following internationally recognized clinical guidelines for effective and safe physical activity.
Even if you're already active or looking to engage in sports, you can reach out to our friendly clinic for personalized advice on a range of topics including: sports nutrition, supplement use, sports injuries, physical complaints, returning to activity after illness/injury, physiology, and physical exertion.
Sheba's sports doctors provide medical sponsorship to the Football Association, the Basketball Association and the Paralympic Committee.
Certifications and tests for competitive sports
Our clinic staff conducts tests and issues certificates to athletes of all ages participating in competitions - amateurs and professionals alike. Approvals are also granted for gym training in situations where the family doctor is unable to do so due to the patient's age, restrictive professional guidelines, different disease states, and more.
Tests
The tests, carried out by a sports doctor, are conducted both at rest and during physical exertion, following the latest guidelines set by the Ministry of Health in 2014. Additionally, athletes between the ages of 30 and 40 are recommended to undergo an ergometry test at specific intervals: 30, 34, 37, and 40, followed by an annual test after reaching the age of 40. It is worth noting that in certain sports, a resting test may suffice even at older ages. When booking the appointment, you can easily find out which test is required by law. Plus, if the athlete, coach, or team requests a stress test, even when it's not mandatory, we can perform this too.
The tests are also suitable for individuals who aren't particularly active in sports but are interested in gauging their physical fitness level or addressing any concerns related to exertion, like breathing difficulties or chest pains, for example.
After the test, a summary is provided by a sports doctor, and the results are given right away.
