The Surgical Oncology Department (Surgery C) functions as a general surgery ward and is recognized as a leading entity in the field of cancer surgery in Israel. Notably, 60%-70% of the department's surgical procedures revolve around oncological cases.
Our department possesses specialized units devoted to breast cancer, proctology, colon cancer, digestive system tumors, liver and biliary system tumors, soft tissue tumors, melanoma, and sarcoma. One area where we excel is regional chemotherapy and innovative targeted therapies for locally advanced cancer treatment.
In addition to performing surgical procedures and providing patient care, our department actively engages in academic discussions, peer reviews of professional literature, analysis of pathological findings, and evaluation of X-ray test results. Inter-team collaboration is integral to our work, and regular meetings are held between the gastroenterology, pathology, and mammography teams within the department. Furthermore, our surgical department convenes a weekly update gathering in which special cases are discussed.
