Tamar Fisher, Ph.D, Senior Researcher & Lab Manager
Dr. Tamar Fisher received her M.Sc. (with special distinction) and her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Life Sciences, Bar-Ilan University, Ramat-Gan, Israel.
She was awarded the Dean's Scholarship of Distinction, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Bar-Ilan University (for Ph.D. students) on two occasions.
Dr. Fisher was a researcher at the Laboratory of Ecology and Physiology of Invertebrates, Faculty of Life Sciences, Bar-Ilan University. Her research focused on phylogenetic analysis using molecular tools.
Today, Dr. Fisher is the manager of the "Pediatric Leukemias, Solid and Brain Tumor Research Laboratory" established at 2002 by her and the head of the lab, Prof Amos Toren.
Her pioneer studies have focused on the anti-tumoral molecular mechanisms of new old drugs such as Canabinoids (THC and CBD) on glioblastoma and leukemias cell lines as well as primary cells. She also researched the molecular characterization of stem cells from various sources: bone marrow, cord blood, peripheral blood and fetal liver.
Today Dr. Fisher focus is on the anti tumoral molecular mechanisms of Cannabinoids with regard to pediatric tumor cell lines especially Neuroblastomas (NB), primary cells and tumors that will be induced in NOD-SCID mice (xenografts). As part of the management of the laboratory, Dr. Fisher guides rotating physicians, PhD and M.Sc students in their first steps in the scientific work in the lab.
Dr. Fisher is extremely involved, supporting and assisting at all the different kinds of research projects וn the lab. Dr. Fisher attended a course of "management clinical researches" (GCP) and course of "a biological and chemical safety in the lab" that belongs to the Israeli institute Occupational Safety and Hygiene.
