The Blood Coagulation Laboratory is part of the Blood Bank and the National Hemophilia Center. The laboratory is certified by the National Laboratory Accreditation Authority according to the 15189 ISO standard.
The laboratory team conducts tests for platelet function (aggregation), molecular analysis of hypercoagulability, platelet antigen systems (HPA) for diagnosing immune thrombocytopenia in newborns, hemophilia, and other uncommon blood disorders (such as factor VII deficiency, factor XI, von Willebrand's Disease, Glanzmann's Thrombasthenia).
Alongside the service laboratory, there is also a research lab for developing new test methods and a clinical research service for testing new preparations. The lab collaborates on tailoring personalized treatments for hemophiliacs, such as gene therapy.
The laboratory has unique methods for global tests of clot formation and testing the potential of thrombin production.
Areas of focus in the laboratory:
- Platelets
- Molecular biology
- Research and development
