At the Center for Nuclear Cardiology, we offer heart mapping - an imaging test that provides valuable information on the blood supply to your heart and how it functions at rest and during exertion. The purpose of this test is to detect coronary heart disease and assess its condition in known patients, including those who have undergone catheterization or bypass surgery.
The test is performed using radioactive substances with properties that enable them to reach the heart muscle areas that receive blood. A unique nuclear camera takes pictures of the heart from various angles and maps the flow of radioactive material. Areas of the heart muscle that show a disruption in blood supply (ischemia), indicate a narrowing of the coronary arteries (coronary heart disease).
An advanced heart mapping camera (CZT), based on the absorption of radioactive radiation in a very efficient manner, came into use at the nuclear cardiology center. The innovative camera allows the use of radioactive material in a minimal dose and reduced exposure to the subject (at a rate of about 70% compared to the standard cameras). Also, innovations in the camera lead to high resolution with an improvement in imaging quality and a significant reduction in imaging time.
The Center for Nuclear Cardiology employs state-of-the-art cardiac mapping camera (CZT) that uses highly efficient absorption of radioactive radiation. This cutting-edge camera enables the utilization of minimal doses of radioactive material, resulting in reduced subject exposure (approximately 70% compared to standard cameras). Moreover, the camera's advancements deliver enhanced imaging quality with high resolution, significantly reducing imaging time.
The team at the Center for Nuclear Cardiology consists of experienced cardiologists, a registered nurse with intensive care training and specialization, and skilled medical technicians.
