Pain is often the primary reason people seek medical advice. Yet, despite advances in various medical fields, pain managment remains a challenge for patients and therapists alike.

Our Pain Rehabilitation unit offers comprehensive care to individuals experiencing chronic pain caused by a range of factors. These include neurological disorders or injuries such as head injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis. Additionally, we treat patients with orthopedic conditions such as back pain, limb amputations, as well as those dealing with unexplained pain.

Because treatment tends to be complex and involves many factors, a multi-disciplinary team is often necessary.

The purpose of the treatment:

Treatment aims to improve an individual’s quality of life and allow them to lead an active lifestyle, with a high degree of personal, social, and occupational functioning. This is faciliatetd through pain relief delivered via drug therapy, injections, radio-frequency treatment, biofeedback, behavioral therapy, group therapy, and more.

The Pain Rehabilitation unit is a vital component of the Rehabilitation Center at Sheba Medical Center, encompassing a wide range of advanced units and cutting-edge technologies. As such, we are able to offer additional treatments based on an individual patient’s needs and recommendations of the attending medical professionals.

The Pain Rehabilitation unit includes several services:

  • Day hospitalization
  • Pain clinic - medical examination for assessment, identification, and/or treatment.
  • Interventional treatment unit - which conducts treatments using radio waves or epidural injections.
  • Neurosurgeon clinic - examination by a neurosurgeon to decide on possible invasive intervention (such as an intrathecal pain pump).
  • A mind-body clinic for treating complex pain - a multi-team clinic that includes combined treatment by a doctor and psychologist.
  • Workshops for fibromyalgia patients, in collaboration with the rheumatology unit. The program includes treatment by a CBT psychologist (cognitive behavioral therapy) and hydrotherapy/physiotherapy treatment.
