The vestibular system (balance system) is a small yet extremely important sensory organ located in the inner ear. This system senses acceleration and deceleration of head movements and gravitational forces and, in response, maintains balance, gaze stability, and body sensation in space, even contributing to the body's automatic responses. Disorders of this system can lead to symptoms such as difficulty standing upright, walking difficulties, falls, swaying, dizziness (including rotational vertigo), disorientation in space, motion sensitivity, nausea, and vomiting.

Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialised branch of physiotherapy that focuses on physical-based treatment. The programme includes tailored exercises designed to address specific symptoms, such as enhancing balance, walking improvement, and compensatory exercises involving head and eye movements. It also equips patients with knowledge, symptom management skills, and a sense of empowerment. Our treatment is research-based and should be started early when a vestibular disorder develops.
