Sheba's Breast Cancer Radiation Therapy Unit ranks among the world's most advanced. Our team excels in the use of cutting-edge technologies that ensure safe treatment that protects vital organs. Techniques include radiation therapy with breath holding, pressurised air masks, and intraoperative radiation therapy for the breast, among others.
At Sheba, we offer advanced radiation protocols, allowing us to provide a variety of radiation treatments, including a one-off intraoperative option. Each treatment is tailor-made to fit the unique body structure of the patient, the stage of their disease, the risk of the disease coming back, and the potential for complications and side effects.
Follow-up for our patients involves personal support and care throughout and after their radiation treatment. As part of this process, we help manage side effects, offer guidance for ongoing check-ups, and provide opportunities to participate in clinical studies.
The team at Sheba is dedicated to enhancing radiation outcomes for women post-breast reconstruction and takes part in international studies.
The Breast Cancer Radiation Therapy Unit is a key part of the multidisciplinary program for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer at Sheba. Our team participates in meetings and case discussions of patients with breast cancer to formulate an optimal treatment plan.
Patient Guidance Program
The Radiation Institute's team conducts group sessions aimed at preparing individuals for their breast radiation treatments, helping patients arrive better prepared and more at ease. These sessions, led by a nurse, a dietician, and a social worker, happen every two weeks. Information about the sessions is provided to every new patient upon admission to the institute, on the day of the simulation, and on the institute's notice boards.
What can you expect from the guidance session? You'll get an introduction to the Radiation Institute and the team you'll be working with. We'll walk you through the radiation planning process, acquaint you with the radiation rooms, and introduce you to the equipment we use. Plus, we'll talk about the common side effects of breast radiation and share some tips on how to prevent and deal with them.
We recommend attending the session near the start of your treatments. Don't hesitate to ask the secretariat if you need to sign up for the training in advance.
Upcoming Guidance Sessions
The sessions are scheduled from 10:30-12:00 at the Cancer Centre, located in the leisure centre hall, on the first floor. These sessions are exclusively for female patients and are conducted without the presence of companions.
