In our dermatology day hospitals, patients receive intense treatments in the morning or afternoon, avoiding the need for an overnight stay, so they can maintain their daily lives. Each day includes a doctor's visit to update the treatment plan, often involving phototherapy, Goeckerman therapy or injections, including IVs.
Goeckerman therapy is one of the oldest and most effective ways to treat several inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (also known as skin asthma), and lichen planus. It involves daily phototherapy, applying ointments, changing dressings, and taking medical baths. Typically, it requires about 15 half-day sessions and can lead to long-term disease remission. Removing fatty ointments can be challenging, so wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty is advisable. Additionally, bringing personal toiletries, shampoo, slippers, and a pillowcase is recommended if treatment includes the scalp area. For your convenience, we supply pajamas, towels, and robes as needed.
Intravenous treatments, involving biological drugs or medication for infectious diseases, typically take 3-4 hours per day session. The frequency and specific type of these treatments vary depending on the disease.
