At the Gastro Institute, we proudly run a clinic specializing in diseases of the pancreas, gall bladder, and biliary tract. The clinic provides comprehensive consultation which includes an integrated clinical, laboratory, and targeted imaging assessment.
The Gastro Institute performs a range of endoscopic imaging tests that include endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), biopsies from different lesions, small needle biopsy (FNA), and endoscopy of the bile ducts and pancreas (ERCP).
Thorough analysis of data from ancillary tests and imaging, allows us to make informed decisions and establish an optimal treatment plan.
Every week, a multidisciplinary meeting takes place, bringing together experts in the field. This includes general surgeons specializing in pancreatic and biliary tract surgery, gastroenterologists skilled in biliary tract imaging using ERCP and EUS, and imaging doctors with expertise in the pancreas and biliary tract.
Depending on the results, the patient is referred for surgery, endoscopic treatment or radiation treatments and chemotherapy.
We provide diagnosis and treatment of the following diseases:
- Gallbladder and biliary tract stone disease
- Chronic inflammation of the pancreas
- Pancreatic tumors
- Cystic diseases
- Neuroendocrine tumors
Research
- Comparing endoscopic ultrasound with other imaging methods for grading pancreatic tumors.
- Comparing various imaging methods with endoscopic ultrasound to differentiate pancreatic tumors from focal inflammatory processes.
- Long-term follow-up of pancreatic cysts using endoscopic ultrasound.
- Diagnosis of early chronic pancreatitis by endoscopic ultrasound.
