At our hematology department, we provide intensive chemotherapy treatments for various hematological malignancies like acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and more. We also offer intensive treatments to patients with critical-stage non-hematological diseases, such as aplastic anemia. Our utmost priority is to provide high-quality medical and nursing care while respecting the dignity and rights of our patients. We are here to support and assist them throughout their hospitalization, ensuring their stay in the department is as comfortable as possible.
The rooms in the department are well-equipped and arranged for extended stays. Each room includes a patient bed, a bed for an accompanying person, a chair, table, storage cabinets, refrigerator, and television. There is a convenient call system available for patients to quickly seek help from a nurse or caregiver. By simply pressing an emergency button, they can communicate through an intercom from the room or bathroom. A nearby lamp will indicate the call until the patient's request is answered.
The medical team in the department consist of specialist oncologists, oncology fellows, experienced nursing staff with extensive clinical and academic training, nursing students, skilled support personnel (responsible for tasks such as maintaining hygiene and meal distribution), paramedics, medical secretaries, and National Service volunteers.
Treatment plans are thoroughly reviewed and assessed in bi-weekly team meetings, attended by physicians and specialists. Additionally, joint meetings are conducted with the imaging team, pathological laboratory, and clinical and molecular hematology laboratory. The laboratory test results play a pivotal role in informing treatment decisions.
