At the Gastro Institute, a specialized clinic focuses on diagnosing malignancies of the digestive system, evaluating their progression, and providing guidance on treatment and future prevention for patients and their families.

Patients are supported by a dedicated team comprising of gastroenterology and genetics experts. The clinic team collaborates closely with surgeons, oncologists, imaging doctors (x-ray), and pathology.

Regular multidisciplinary discussions involve the entire team, where complex cases are presented and therapeutic decisions are made together.

Detection of cancer and precancerous conditions

Tumors can affect various segments of the digestive system. Among them, colon tumors are the most prevalent, while others are exceptionally uncommon. Certain tumors manifest in the context of familial or genetic syndromes.

In most cases, a single tumor affects one of the organs in the digestive system without any clear cause for concern. Occasionally, the tumor may develop after exposure to specific risk factors. There are specific symptoms (warning signs) that can indicate the possibility of cancer developing in the organs of the digestive system. Patients with suspicious symptoms will typically be referred to the clinic for a comprehensive evaluation to promptly diagnose and adjust treatment as needed.
