In our Prostate Cancer Radiation Unit, we employ a robotic radiation accelerator to deliver X-rays, operated by a skilled team of radiation technicians. This follows meticulous planning undertaken by the attending physician alongside a team of physicists. Radiation treatments, ranging from 5 to 32 sessions, are administered over several weeks, with each session lasting just a few minutes. The number of treatments is determined by the attending physician, taking into account the patient's medical history. Importantly, patients can maintain their normal lifestyle throughout the duration of the treatment. While receiving radiation therapy, you won't experience any pain or heat. It is important to remain still during the procedure.
Guidance for patients
The team at the Radiation Institute organises group sessions where patients can familiarise themselves with the institute and learn about their treatment, possible side effects, and tips on how to prevent or manage them. The trainings are delivered once every two weeks by a nurse and a dietician. It is recommended to attend the training at or near the beginning of the radiation treatment.
Training sessions will take place every Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the cinema located within the oncology institute's leisure centre, on the first floor next to the day hospital.
Upcoming training session dates:
16.05.2024
13.06.2024
