The Invasive Cardiology unit at Sheba is the largest of its kind in Israel, boasting three catheterization laboratories and two electrophysiology laboratories. Our state-of-the-art facilities are fully equipped with the best imaging and treatment equipment.

The operating rooms operate 24/7, even during nights and weekends. Our teams carry out urgent cardiac catheterizations for patients with heart attack and other cardiac conditions that need immediate attention. In the catheterization rooms, we follow strict medical standards and use advanced technologies.

The unit integrates an advanced service, conducting comprehensive clinical research in all aspects of catheterization, while also providing education to interns and students. All our doctors are graduates of internships at prestigious centers abroad in the field of catheterization.

Tests and treatments in the invasive cardiology unit:

  • Diagnostic catheterization (angiography) and widening of arteries and blockages in the heart using a balloon and stent implantation as initial treatment for myocardial infarction (heart attack) and patients with chest pain
  • Catheter treatment of valve diseases and valve transplants with a Transcathter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
  • Evaluation of patients before bypass surgery and valve implantation
  • Assessment before and after heart transplantation, including myocardial biopsy
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic catheters of carotid and other peripheral arteries
  • Catheter treatment of congenital heart defects in adults and closure of "holes"
  • Treatments for other structural heart problems
