The Otolaryngology service at the Edmond and Lily Safra Children's Hospital is among the largest and most prominent in Israel, with around 10,000 clinic visits annually, along with hundreds of surgeries and diagnostic procedures.
The variety of problems treated within the service: congenital disorders of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck system; hearing loss; hoarseness; Sleep disorders - snoring, apnea; Epical obstruction; Congenital and acquired obstruction of upper aiways; Stridor; chronic ear infections and complications of ear infections; cholesteatoma; sinusitis; Benign and malignant tumors in the nose, ear, throat, head and neck system; swallowing and salivation problems; Inflammation of the salivary glands.
The variety of surgeries performed as part of the service: Tonsillectomy and adenoid (third tonsil); Insertion of vent tubes (tympanostomy); Mastoidocholesteatoma surgeries; Reconstruction of the eardrum and auditory organs (tympanoplasty and ossiculoplasty); Cochlear implant; Atresia and stenosis repair; Cyst and neck abscess removal - benign and malignant; Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS); Nasal conchae reduction; Septoplasty; Tear duct surgery (DCR) - in collaboration with an ophthalmologist; Salivary gland endoscopy; Cleft palate repair; Tongue reduction; Tongue-tie correction; Corrective rhinoplasty; Laryngeal cleft repair; Correction of congenital and acquired airways narrowing.
